Call for input - Policy Effectiveness Reviews

General Information

The Institutional Quality Assurance and Policy teams are carrying out reviews to ensure policies, procedures and guidelines are effective and efficient.

Academic Quality and Standards Committee have approved Policy Effectiveness Reviews for both the Assessment Procedures (Clause 20- early assessment requirements) and the Course Advisory Group Policy & Procedure.

If you would like to share your experiences and provide input to the effectiveness reviews please get in touch by COB 26 September 2025. We are happy to receive emails with your feedback or to arrange one-on-one or group sessions to receive feedback.

Policy effectiveness review: Early Assessment Requirements under the Assessment Procedures (Clause 20)

This clause mandates an early, summative assessment to support student success.

The intent of this clause is to help students and academic staff identify where students might be at risk of not meeting the unit requirements so appropriate support can be provided.

We are interested in hearing your experiences of the value, effectiveness and practicality of compulsory early summative assessment to support students.

Please contact quality@canberra.edu.au with your feedback on the Assessment Procedures (Clause 20).

Policy effectiveness review: Course Advisory Group Policy and Procedure

This policy and procedure sets out the requirements and management of Course Advisory Groups. As an Australian University, UC is required under the Higher Education Standards Framework (2021) to ‘[demonstrate] engagement with employers, industry, and the professions in areas in which it offers courses of study.’ Course Advisory Groups also contribute to the external referencing of courses and programs.

We are interested in hearing your experiences of the value, effectiveness and practicality of course advisory groups and the requirements for managing them.

Please contact policy@canberra.edu.au with your feedback on the Course Advisory Group Policy & Procedure.
