In this course, you will learn to tell engaging multimedia stories on radio and online. Over two face-to-face workshops, you will publish a segment of radio on UCFM 87.8 and an article at The Owl, the publication of the Journalism and Sports Media programs.
After being introduced to the basic principles of journalism, broadcasting and online publishing, you will conduct an interview and gather multimedia material. With guidance, you’ll then turn that material into your On Air and Online stories.
Upon completion, you’ll have an understanding of basic journalism, publishing and broadcast practice.
What you’ll learn/produce:
Open to all students in Years 10, 11 & 12.
Scott is a Senior Lecturer in Communication and Media at the University of Canberra and the Discipline Lead in Journalism. In 2014, after working in a range of television newsrooms in Australia and overseas, he published the book ’18 Days: Al Jazeera English and the Egyptian Revolution’. Between 2014 and 2021, Scott was the Managing Director of Global Journalism Exchange which facilitated journalism study tours between Australia and the Middle East-North Africa region.
