Portfolio Entry requirements

Everywhere you look, everything you own, all that you interact with has been designed with a purpose. Use your creativity to solve global problems whether that be through industrial design, interaction design, or visual communication. You’ll master the skills to craft the world around you and make a difference where it counts. Make sure to review the unique requirements for your preferred course before applying for portfolio entry.

Entry requirements

Course title Submission instructions Discipline specific comments
Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) Please submit a portfolio with the following:
  • Images of at least 2 products/artefacts you have designed.
  • A physical model for at least one of the products/artefacts.
  • For both products/artefacts, you must show each step of the design process that lead to the final design and the making of your physical model.
  • Each product/artefact must be clearly described in writing: what it is, what is its purpose, how does it work, motivation for its design, what is innovative about it etc.
  • Your design process entails the research, concept sketches, concept refinement, CAD model (if used but not mandatory), prototyping, testing (if undertaken) and making (for at least one of the products/artefacts).
Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design) Please submit a portfolio containing up to 5 pieces of your best creative work related to the digital design:
  • Digital work could be a website, mobile app, physical device (IoT), desktop application etc.
  • Your creative work should be supported by a clear digital representation of your final design outcome with a narrative providing; evidence of creative design process, a rationale explaining your design decisions and influences.
  • The rationale will entail clear definition of the problem you are trying to address, research, concept sketches, concept refinement and the final outcome.
Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication Design)
  • Please submit a portfolio containing up to 5 pieces of your best creative work related to visual communication or graphic design (drawings, artworks, digital designs).
  • Your creative work should be supported by a clear digital representation of your final design outcome with a narrative providing; evidence of creative design process, a rationale explaining your design decisions and influences.
  • The rationale will entail clear definition of the problem you are trying to address, research, concept sketches, concept refinement and the final outcome.
